Advocacy is simply a word to describe people voicing their opinions on issues they care about and helping educate public officials so they can make informed decisions. When public officials recognize how important quality home health care is in the lives of so many people, they will be more likely to create laws and rules that support these services.
Together — as a community of home health care advocates — we have a better opportunity to influence those decisions. There are many ways we can do that:
- Send emails and letters to government officials
- Respond to Action Alerts
- Share stories with public officials that show the value of home care
Sharing stories is one of the most powerful ways of influencing policy decisions. It puts a face on home health care and gives it a voice. There are many ways to tell stories to help lawmakers better understand the value of home health care—and that it affects real people. Every time you send an email, write a letter to your legislator, or respond to an Action Alert, you are making yourself heard.
Help spread the message of the value — both financially and in quality of life — of home health care. Be a home health care advocate.
